On top of the cap is a capsule inspired by the Apollo Command Modules. The bulk of the cap features an astronaut over the lunar surface which is flanked by stars, stripes, and the NASA worm logo.

The blank was measured and drilled before inserting a brass tube. It was then trued on each end before being placed on my Rikon midi-lathe for the shaping using various chisels.
When the desired shape was achieved I then took it through a multi-stage sanding process finishing with nine steps of micro-mesh, followed by polishing with White Diamond Polish resulting in a glass like finish.
