This is one of the beautiful Makie fountain pen produced in Kaga in Kanazawa prefecture where one of the famous place for its good urushi lacquer and makie art. Maki-e is an ancient Japanese art that combines intricate lacquer painting with a variety of surface decorations.
These traditionally include powdered gold, silver, plutinum and other precious metals, gemstones, mother of pearl or abalone shell. Length: 14 cm / 5.5 inch (cap close).
